Terry Andrew Scifres

Dec. 19, 1926 — Oct. 17, 2013

Ardmore — Terry Andrew Scifres, 86, of Ardmore, passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with the Rev. Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Services will conclude in The Chapel. Interment to follow in Chapel Garden at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore.

Terry was born Dec. 19, 1926, to Perry Thomas Scifres and Bessie Lee Durham Scifres at Memphis, Tenn. He was called into serving his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He received the Asiatic Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal for his services overseas and in Korea.

Terry married Miss Ada Ruth Elledge on Dec. 11, 1947, at Lovell, Wyo.  

After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Terry began working for Halliburton, retiring after 31 years of service. Following his retirement, he owned and operated “The Burger Inn” in Velma. He sold the restaurant in 1982, and put in a car wash, selling it in 1985. He and Ada moved to Ardmore in 1999, and joined the First Baptist Church. Terry enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ada, in 2011; his parents; seven brothers; one sister; and daughter-in-law, Pam Scifres.

Terry is survived by his sons: Ron Scifres and wife Cheryl, Glenn Scifres and wife Pat, and Gary Scifres; grandchildren: Shelley Hammack and husband Kevin, Amy Scifres, and Christopher Scifres and wife Jessica; twin brother, Perry Thomas Scifres of Duncan.
