Doyle Gene Whaley

MARLOW — Doyle Gene Whaley, 69, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, in Marlow.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at the Marlow Cemetery with the Rev. David Woods officiating. Service will be under direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.

Gene was born Thursday, Nov. 11, 1943, in Marlow, to Loyd E. and Helene Dreme Gray Whaley. Gene lived in the Marlow area most of his life and graduated from Bray High School in 1960. He married Shirley Ann Cooper on Nov. 16, 1963, in Las Vegas, Nev.

Gene loved his job as the parts manager at Eddie Cordes LLC in Lawton, where he worked for more than 40 years. He retired in 2008, and enjoyed his retirement by spending time on his farm, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include wife, Shirley Ann Whaley of the home; two sons: Donnie Whaley, and Ronnie Whaley and wife Julie, all of Marlow; four grandchildren: Alex Whaley, Sara Pierce, Dakotah Whaley, Olivia Whaley; two great-grandchildren: Matthew Pierce, Brooklyn Pierce; two brothers: Jerry Whaley and wife JoAnn of Marlow, Rick Whaley and wife Rhonda of Corpus Christi, Texas; nephews: Jonathan O'Neal, Colt O'Neal, Jason Whaley, Jeff Whaley; nieces: Laura Pace, Denece Barteau; sisters-in-law: Linda Pace and husband Rod, Glenda Adams and husband Danny.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents.
