Darlene Sims Henricks

Aug. 21, 1940 – Oct. 4, 2013

DUNCAN — Darlene was born Aug. 21, 1940, to C.A. and Lucille Sims in Duncan. She passed away Friday afternoon, Oct. 4, 2013, at Duncan Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 at Carter Smart Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Oct. 9 at Saint Paul’s Methodist Church with Dan Fletcher officiating. Interment will be at the Duncan Cemetery.

She graduated from Duncan High School in 1958. On Aug. 14, 1959, she married Don Henricks at Ed and Sis Savage’s residence.

Darlene worked at Cotton Electric part-time in 1978. She began working full-time in January 1979. She retired from Cotton Electric May 1, 1999, because of COPD. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband Don of 54 years. She is also survived by her brother Bob Sims and wife Frankie of Davis, her twin sister Arlene Sims of Duncan, and her brother-in-law Fred Henricks of Duncan.

She is also survived by her three children Christie Green and husband Bill of Pauls Valley, Donna Howell and husband Tony of Duncan and Jeff Henricks and wife Lea of Duncan; seven grandchildren Chad Green and wife Melissa of Belton, Texas, Kyle Green of Tomball, Texas, Brad Green of Windthorst, Texas, Jade Howell, Tyler Howell, Sydney Henricks and Brady Henricks of Duncan; two great-grandchildren Will Green and Kollin Green as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is also survived by her lifelong friends and classmates Carol Nelson Barnes, Rosemary Williams Doyle and Linda Beth Benson Whitley.

Arrangements are under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
