Mava Nell Fisher

Aug. 28, 1928 — Sept. 27, 2013

DUNCAN — Services for Mava Nell Fisher, 85, of Duncan will be at the chapel of Don Grantham Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Friday Sept. 27, 2013, with Pastor Bill Geer officiating and under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

Mava passed away in the evening Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, in Duncan.  

Mava Nell Fisher was born on Aug. 28, 1928 to Walter H. Battles and Claudia Lindsay Battles in Hewitt.

Mava was a member of the City Heights Baptist Church in Duncan. Mava married Joshua O. Fisher on June 7, 1946 in Wilson.

Mava worked as a nurse for Lindley Hospital until she retired in 1985.

Mava is preceded in death by her husband, Joshua O. Fisher; parents, Walter and Claudia Battles; daughter, Deborah Ward; son, Robert Fisher; brother, Dennis Battles; sister Nadine Shearing; grandchildren, Tiffani Willis and Joy Ward.

Mava is survived by her daughters, Sharon Barton and her husband Johnny of Duncan, Cherri Willis and her husband Paul of Oklahoma City, Bonnie Haney and her husband Buddy of Duncan; brothers, Bobby Battles and his wife Jeannie of Cleburne, Texas, Norman Battles of Oklahoma City, Charlie Battles of Wilson; sisters, Ginger Spencer of Durant, Vicky Powell of Springer; 10 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Steve Barton, John Scott Barton, Alan Shearin, Logan Shearin, Christopher Willis, and David Willis.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men of City Heights Baptist Church, Randy Barton and Alan Smith.
