DONIE, Texas —
Durward “Dud” Tilman Brooks passed from this world on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, after a glorious life.
He was born in Flat, Texas, to James C. Brooks and Ora Parsons Brooks on March 4, 1920. He is survived by his son Frank E. Brooks and wife Glynis; daughter Phyllis Brooks Ward and husband Simon; four grandchildren, John D. (JD) Brooks, Rachel D. Brooks, Nicholas A. Ward and Oliver A. Ward.
Dud was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Doris, in July 2002.
Dud served his country in World War II in Europe and returned home safely to his family.
After graduating from the University of Texas, he worked for Schlumberger and Halliburton Services as Regional Credit Manager, Credit Manager and Business Development Manager in Houston and Duncan, until retiring to Salado, Texas.
He was an active member of the credit management community for his entire career as a member of the National Association of Credit Management and as president of the Houston Association of Credit Management.
A man of integrity, calm, good judgment and much humor, Dud thrived on his family and many friends, loved animals and was a devoted and wonderful father and grandfather.
He was an avid bird hunter and fisherman and enjoyed “bowling night” to it’s fullest.
A celebration of his life by the family and friends will be held at Klein Funeral Home at 16131 Champion Forest Drive from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24. Funeral services and internment will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Union Cemetery in Donie, Texas.
Flowers may be sent to Klein Funeral Home or, if desired, memorial contributions in honor of Dud Brooks may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
