Former Duncan resident Ruby Lee Chambers, 96, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, in Boyd, Texas.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, in Duncan Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating, under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ruby was born Sept. 16, 1916, in Paris, Texas, the daughter of Blake C. and Margaret E. Taylor Freeland. She married George M. Chambers on May 6, 1939, in Frederick. He preceded her in death March 31, 1993.
She worked as a Department Manager in the Children’s Department at Montgomery Wards in Duncan before her retirement and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church West.
She is survived by three daughters: Treva J. Roglin and husband Robert of Boyd, Texas, Leta Kay Landrum and husband Daniel of Arlington, Texas, Janet Karlas Fields and husband Larry of Okmulgee; a brother, Kenneth W. Chambers and wife Mary of Denton, Texas; a sister, Wilma J. Wagner of Vernon, Texas; nine grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Blake and Margaret; her husband, George; four brothers and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church West at 200 S. 42nd St. Duncan, OK 73533.
