Gwindolyn Newton Boory went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013.
Gwindolyn was 89, born April 13, 1924, to Robert and Eunice Newton of Duncan. She lived in Duncan, marrying John Boory on Dec. 25, 1940, graduated from Duncan High School in 1942, and left her hometown that same year. She relocated from San Antonio, Texas, to Lorena, Texas in 1979, and remained there.
She had a great love for dolls from an early age. She founded and was active president of The Central Texas Doll Club in 1982, sharing her passion and love with many members to present. The theme of the club is “Love, Understanding And Peace In All Things” with yearly projects for, Toys For Tots and Tea Party with Girl Scouts.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by cousin Hester Murphree Blair, Hester’s two sons: Billey R Blankeship, Gaylan Blankenship, and cousin Haskell Murphree, all of Duncan; cousin Roy Murphree of Tulsa, and Roy’s brother, Carl Murphree of Chico, Calif.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Carter-Smart Funeral Home. Interment will be in Duncan Cemetery.
