Johnie ‘John’ Wayne Presgrove

Jan. 6, 1931 — Nov. 25, 2013

DUNCAN — Johnie “John” Wayne Presgrove, 82, passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at home in Duncan, surrounded by family.

John was born Jan. 6, 1931, in Velma, to Marcus and Lena Newman Presgrove and the ninth child of 10 children: RL, Woody, Pete, Herman, Nita, Ruth, Randall, Sue and Bill. He graduated from Velma High School and Oklahoma State University, earning degrees in chemistry and entomology.

He served four years in the Air Force and was a Korean War veteran. John retired from Halliburton Services after 30 years in Government Regulation and as a Chemist.

He married Betty Marie Barnes and celebrated 54 happy years.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of the home; three children: Darrell Presgrove (wife Lisa, son Scott Presgrove) of Duncan, Blanche Harmon (husband Tony) of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Sherry Presgrove of Dallas Texas. Also survived by a sister, Sue Hill (husband Dick); three grandchildren: Scott Presgrove, Dawn Kuder, Ann Huff and husband Jayson; a great-grandchild, Jadon Steward; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

John’s eclectic interests included: deer camp camaraderie, raising cattle, farming, gardening, hunting, fishing, camping, playing dominoes, music and dancing. Spending time with family and friends brought him his greatest joy.

Celebration of his life with family and friends begins with visitation from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Don Grantham Funeral Home in Duncan. Graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Duncan Cemetery with the Rev. Dean Hall officiating.

    Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, Duncan. Interment will follow where Bette will be laid to rest beside her husband in a family cemetery in Alma.
