Mildred “Memaw” Edwards, 92, of Duncan died peacefully at her home Monday, Dec. 8, 2013, with her family by her side.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel at Don Grantham Funeral Home with Marty Hodges officiating. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery. There is no visitation scheduled.
Mildred was born on May 9, 1921, to Walter and Sallie Williams in Duncan. She married Howard “Doc” Edwards on June 24, 1945, in Fort McClellan, Ala. They shared 62 years of wonderful marriage until his passing on June 17, 2004.
Mildred was a lifelong homemaker and one of Jehovah Witnesses. She enjoyed gardening, having lunch at the seniors citizens center, being outdoors and loved to set on her front porch to watch the sun set. She doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her only daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Ted Preslet of Duncan; three grandchildren, Greg Adams, and Deborah McClennen, both of Duncan, and LaDona Hays of Garber; three great-grandchildren, Aubree McClennen of Duncan, Megan VanDeMark and her husband Nathan of Yukon and Dakota Tullos of Comanche and one great-great-grandson Zachary Blake VanDeMark of Yukon.
She is preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and five brothers.
Pallbearers will be Chet Mahlow, Nathan VanDeMark, Randy McClennen, Michael Hayes, Fred McGlauthan and Thomas Stanley Ward III.
