Anna Elizabeth Wiggins

Dec. 12, 1926 — March 6, 2013

DUNCAN —

Former longtime Duncan resident Anna Elizabeth Wiggins, 86, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, in Altus.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, in Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, with her brother-in-law Jim Virgadamo officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Anna was born to Clarence Woody “C.W.” and Louise Elizabeth “Lizzie” Boyd on Dec. 12, 1926, in Walters. She was one of 11 children born to Clarence and Lizzie and being near the middle of the “clan,” she loved being a helper to her older siblings and babysitter taking care of the younger ones. This continued until just a few years ago, as she traveled from Nebraska to Houston, Texas, ministering and caring for those precious siblings in their times of need.
At the end of World War II, she married the sweetheart of her youth, L.D. Wiggins on Feb. 13, 1946, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and to this union were born three children: Dianna, Lloyd and Michael. “Doll” graduated high school at Sugden, in 1935, and after L.D.s serious illness, she went to the Duncan Vocational Technical School and received her certificate in drafting.
Soon afterwards she was hired by Halliburton Oil Company as a draftsman, where she proudly worked for 24 years earning the status of senior draftsman and certified engineering technician.
After L.D.s death and her retirement, she said her mission was to visit every one of her siblings and children as often as her car would keep running. And running she did, as she happily traveled to each of their homes for numerous visits until many of them through illness or advanced age needed extra help, and then it became her mission to be their caretaker as often as she could in their last days. “Doll” was the example of service and love as she gave all she could give of herself to her brothers and sisters, children and grandchildren.

Poll

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
