Thomas C. ‘T.C.’ Hill

Sept. 14, 1921 — May 17, 2013

COMANCHE — Thomas C. “T.C.” Hill peacefully passed from this life on Friday, May 17, 2013, surrounded by his family. A graveside funeral service, with full military honors, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Fairlawn Cemetery with Bro. Randy Southerland officiating under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday. The family will be receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday.

The son of Rosa Mae Wilson and Thomas C. Hill, born Sept. 14, 1921, in Lindsay, he was the fifth child of nine children. He attended Round Creek School and Lindsay High School.

He enjoyed boxing as a sport and in January 1941, he was Lindsay’s Golden Glove featherweight champion by KO in exactly 25 seconds. He continued boxing and winning several other matches.

In 1942, he joined the U.S. Army (80th Infantry Division), during World War II, while serving in Europe he witnessed a lot of combat. He was awarded several citations, including two Purple Hearts.

On April 3, 1943, T.C. married Juanita Huey in Maysville. They enjoyed 70 years together, happily married. The couple was blessed with two children, a daughter, Sharon Dianne, and a son, Thomas C. III. In 1947, he moved his family to the Meridian Community when he went to work for Sunray Oil Company, at the Refinery south of Duncan. He worked until 1983 when the Refinery closed. T.C. served as the treasurer of the Sunray DX Employees Credit Union.

He and Juanita made their home in the Meridian community and continued to live in the family home for 57 years, until his death. He was a great provider for his family, loved living in the country, gardening, working around his home, and working in his saw sharpening shop. He taught his children and grandchildren to love your family, work hard, respect others, and don’t take your health for granted. He enjoyed drinking coffee, and visiting with his friends at Meridian Kwik Mart. He loved his dog, Buddy, and he enjoyed watching basketball and baseball.

T.C. is survived by his wife, Juanita, of the home; a daughter, Sharon Cooper and husband Jimmy of Duncan; a son Tommy Hill and wife Sharon of Meridian; a granddaughter Kelli Burke, Duncan; grandson Robert Hill and wife Shelby of Katy, Texas; great-grandsons Tyler Burke, Hayden Hill and Hudson Hill; one sister, Virginia Wright, Columbus, Miss.; one brother Billy Hill, Marlow; several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: A.C. Hill, G.W. Hill, Walker Hill, and Joe Hill; and two sisters: Orphy Hill and Peggy Martin.

Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Ford, Don Shipman, Larry Adams, Billy Hill, Darvin Allen, and George Buckley.

    Twyla was born Feb. 20, 1937, in Duncan, to Willard and Ruth Tinkle and died April 16, 2014, after a brief illness. Twyla lived her entire life in the Duncan area.
