Steven R. Campbell

DUNCAN — In peace and grace from his Creator, Steven R. Campbell slipped through the veil to rejoin his Creator and those loved ones gone before. This was a transition he had anticipated, examined and understood.

Steven was born Sept. 28, 1953, in Anchorage, Alaska, to Annabelle Dewbre and Ray Campbell. He grew up in Duncan, lived in Dallas, Texas and settled in Taos, N.M., for the last decade.

Steven had a zest for life and could be heard to say he had been blessed to live several life times within this life. He was retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., where he served in many capacities in management in Texas and Oklahoma and was a member of SWBT Pioneers.

He was an accomplished cook, a hobby that served him and those around him well. At age eight, he formed the Buffalo Club and recruited members to raise mone for those less fortunate. He was a member of the Benevolent Order of the Red Red Rose.

Steven is survived by his long-term companion Andrew Lapine, his parents, a sister Penny Gardner and husband Earl. He is also survived by nephews Joshua Gardner, Daniel Gardner and wife Dani, and niece Hannah Hatter and husband Justin.

His pride and joys in life wer his grandnieces Avery and Mady Gardner, Meah and Zoey Bell Hatter and most recent addition grandnephew Jackson Gardner. Steven is also survived by two uncles Joseph and Jerry Swanson, as well as a host of cousins, friends and extended family.

Memorial donations may be made to hospice that served Steven with great compasion at www.mountainhomehealth.com.

There will be a private memorial service at a later date.
