Dewayne Frank Vaughn

April 23, 1958 — May 14, 2013

DUNCAN — Dewayne Frank Vaughn, 55, peacefully passed away from this life on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, in the Oklahoma City Veterans Hospital surrounded by his family.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Friday, May 17, at Bower Cemetery, Bower, with Rev. Stephen Binion and Rev. Arnold Nelson officiating.

The family will receive friends 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Don Grantham Funeral Home.

Dewayne was born April 23, 1958, at Muskogee, to Frank and Honor (Howell) Vaughn. He graduated from Duncan High School with the bicentennial class of 1976.  

Dewayne served his country in the US Air Force from 1977 to 1982. He enjoyed building and flying radio controlled airplanes and was a member of the SW Oklahoma City Flying Club and the Academy of Model Aeronautics. His greatest achievements in life were his two sons, Robert and Mason.

Dewayne is survived by his two sons, Robert Vaughn Dean of Ogden, UT and Mason Vaughn of Rolla, Missouri; his parents Frank and Honor Vaughn of Duncan; sisters Denise Clark (A.J.Clark) of Duncan, Linda Susan Haley (Joe C. Haley) of Choctaw, Teresa Sprague (Stephen Sprague) of Bedford, Texas, Alicia Vaughn (Staci Willis) of Oklahoma City, and Regina Vaughn of The Woodlands, Texas; grandson Vaughn Kendrick Woods; niece Kristen Vaughn; nephews Brian Clark, Joe L. Haley, Matthew Sprague; and a large extended family and lifelong friends.

Honorary bearers will be Robert V. Dean, Mason Vaughn, Denise Clark, Linda Haley, Teresa Sprague, Alicia Vaughn and Regina Vaughn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Texoma Christian Camp, 4558 Christian Camp Rd., Kingston, OK  73439 or First Christian Church Youth Fund, 912 W. Walnut  Duncan, OK  73533.

    Twyla was born Feb. 20, 1937, in Duncan, to Willard and Ruth Tinkle and died April 16, 2014, after a brief illness. Twyla lived her entire life in the Duncan area.
