Funeral service for SSG (Retired) Frank W. Myers, 75, Comanche, will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel.
Sgt. Myers died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 in Lawton.
Burial with full military honors will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He was born March 19, 1937, in San Bernardino, Calif. He grew up in California, and entered the U.S. Army at a young age. He was a veteran of Vietnam and retired on June 30, 1978, at Fort Sill. His awards include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four Service Stars, Army of Occupation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, two Overseas Service Bars, Army Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, Good Conduct Medal Seventh Award and the Expert Rifle and Hand Grenade.
Following his retirement from the Army, he owned and operated Superior Carpet in Lawton for more than 20 years before retiring to Comanche. He married Kay Mitchell on Oct. 25, 1978, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
He loved his chickens, goats, gardening and his two dogs: Sam and Wally.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; six children and their spouses: Cindy and Randy Johnson, Diane and Jim Wendeln, Yvonne and Perry Lubbers, Kam Hensley, Krissy Keith, Kathy and M.C. Reed and Shelli Manuel; 20 grandchildren: Dustin, Mitchell, Chase, Chance, Charli, Jason, Jamie, Josh, Jessica, Tyler, Justin, Misty, Colten, Kassi, Gabby, Nick, Courtney, Kenzie Kale and Amanda; 10 and one soon to be born great-grandchildren; his mother, Violet “Mom” Myers; 10 siblings: Clinton, Joan, David, Dandaleen, Shirley, Steven, Marilyn, Rosemary, Jeanie and Cathy; numerous nieces and nephews.
His father, Wallace Myers; two grandchildren: Luci and Brandon; a brother, Richard; and a sister, Antoinette, preceded him in death.
