M. T. Hines, 78, of Duncan, passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, in Duncan.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at New Hope Baptist Church West with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating.
Interment will follow at Duncan Cemetery under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
M.T. was born Jan. 21, 1935, in Marlow, to Fred and Maude Monds Hines. He attended first through eighth grades at Gatlin School and graduated in 1954, from Duncan High School.
He married Marilyn Tidwell on June 3, 1954, in Duncan, and they were members of New Hope Baptist Church West.
He was a loving father and husband and a dedicated entrepreneur, owning and operating several Heavy Truck & Trailer Parts and repair businesses, a farm and Hines Ball Park. He enjoyed life most when he was working and helping others. He was a mentor to many youth through his ballfield and was inducted in the Oklahoma Softball Hall of Fame.
M.T. is survived by his wife, Marilyn of the home; three children: Geary Hines and wife Shirly of Duncan, Lyndel Hines and wife Leona of Marlow, and Rheta Mellendore and husband David of Duncan; two brothers: J.W. Hines of Duncan and Fred K. Hines of Tuscarora, Md.; and two sisters: Freda Sharp of Bakersfield, Calif., and Cathy DeRoin and husband Logan of Broken Arrow; six grandchildren: Devereaux Hines, Jamey Hines, Jason Lambert, Jeffery Gilbert, Miles gilbert and Steve Crowe; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jamey Hines, Jason Lambert, Jeffery Gilbert, Miles Gilbert, Steve Crowe, Cody Crowe, Dalton Crowe and Colton Crowe. Honorary bearers are his extended family.
