Billie Woolley

Dec. 31, 1920-May 11, 2014

DUNCAN — On May 11, 2014 the completion of life’s journey of Billie Dean Woolley, 93 was celebrated. Completing her journey in this life on Mother’s Day was only fitting. Billie and Gene had no children of their own but seemed to have raised a village.

Many will remember their younger years learning to roller skate at the Townhouse Roller Rink in Marlow. Providing a safe, fun place for young people to gather was a lifelong dream of Billie and her husband, Gene. They will never know how many lives they touched and molded with special love and encouragement.

Billie, born on Dec. 31, 1920 in Marlow, was the daughter of H.R. and Martha (Phipps) Gandy. She married Gene I. Woolley Nov. 17, 1945, a few months after Gene’s return from WWII. Billie attended school in Marlow and was a member of the Marlow Alumni Association from its beginning. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was honored by the church for her dedication to teaching Sunday school classes for over 50 years.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Gene I. Woolley; her parents, H.R. and Martha Gandy; six sisters and four brothers. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Marlow, on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Matt Scraper officiating and Shannon Scott Pfieffer giving the eulogy. Interment will be at the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.

Pallbearers are nephews: Ryan Scott, Tad Pryor, Chase Reynolds, Seth Reynolds, Blake Simon, J.R. Hendershot. Honorary pallbearers are Jenner Torrence, Jesse Torrence, Bob Hill, and Charles Russell.

Billie lived a full life and made her mark. Now she rests in the arms of her Maker.

Poll

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
