Thelma White Minton

DUNCAN — Oct. 11, 1917-April 21, 2014

Thelma White Minton, 96, of Duncan passed away from this life on Monday April 21, 2014 at Country Club Care nursing home in Duncan. Thelma was born on Oct. 11, 1917 in Blanchard, Okla. to John W. White and Ida P. White (Ritter). She graduated from Alex High School in Alex, Okla. There she met and married W. C. “Cliff” Minton on Oct. 8, 1936 at the First Baptist Church in Chickasha. Thelma lived with her husband in Duncan since 1956 and spent a few years living in Lubbock, Texas. Thelma was a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Duncan and was a member of the Garden Club in Duncan. While living in Lubbock she was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club.   In her free time Thelma enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, ceramics, and crafts.

Thelma is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years W. C. “Cliff” Minton; her parents, infant brother Hugh Edward White; sisters Lorena DeHart, Zella Mae Truel, Inez White; and a grandson who passed in 2002, Rodney Selzer.

Thelma is survived by her son,  Ronald Minton and his wife Barbara Lynn of Dallas; daughters, Pat and her husband Bud Selzer of Bradley, Okla., Barbara Kaye Minton of Lubbock, Texas; six grandchildren, Monty Selzer, Jeff Selzer, Angela Selzer, Daniel Minton and his wife Jennifer, Jennifer Coy and her husband Aaron and Jessica Woods and her husband Jason; 14 great-grandchildren, Nola and Mason Woods, Haley and Brittany Harris, Dustin and Ashleigh Selzer, Jacob, Erica and Brandon Selzer, Katy, Shelby, and Clair Selzer, Taylor Smith and Sophie Coy.  

Funeral services will be Friday April 25, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Okla. under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Monty Selzer, Jeff Selzer, Daniel Minton, Jacob Selzer, Aaron Coy, Jason Woods and Billy Moyer.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bud Smith, Bennie Bibbs, Alvin Oliver, and David Haynes.

    Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, Duncan. Interment will follow where Bette will be laid to rest beside her husband in a family cemetery in Alma.
