She married Robert Shelton, Jan. 29, 1949, in Healdton. She and Robert made their home in Tishomingo where she was a student at Tishomingo High School and Robert was a student at Murray State School of Agriculture.

She returned to Halliburton in December of 1969, as a legal secretary in the Patent Section. She retired in 1982.
Jewell was a wonderful companion to Robert, dog wrangler and puppy raiser. She was an avid clown collector and loved caring for a procession of homeless cats that became part of her life over the many years she lived in the country starting in 1973. She started growing pretty flower gardens seen and she had a garden and had the largest tomatoes and best tasting tomatoes you would ever have.
Jewell was preceded in death by her father, Horace A. Posey, in 1990 and her mother, Edna Posey in 1995, a sister Beatrice White in 2008 and her husband Robert Shelton in 2010.
