Donald Leo “Don” White, a longtime resident of Comanche, passed away Monday evening, Nov. 25, 2013, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. He was 69 years old.
Memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel, under direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Don was born June 11, 1944, at Cloverport, Kent., to Harold and Nellie Ailene Pierce White. After graduation from high school, Don joined the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam conflict. He was the recipient of two bronze stars, and a Purple Heart.
Don and Karen Rebecca Earnest were united in marriage June 1968 in Duncan. He was employed many years at Pier One Marine, and later North Texas Marine, where he was a boat mechanic. Don loved all outdoor activities, especially hunting, fishing and camping. He was also an avid bowler. He enjoyed visiting with folks, in fact, he never met a stranger. Don had a very outgoing personality, and always had a fish story to tell you. He was a “regular” at the Day Break Diner in Duncan.
He is survived by his wife, Karen of the home; a son, Jon White and wife Christy, Duncan; three grandchildren: Emilee White, Bethany, Katy Grace White and Cade White, both of Duncan; 10 brothers and sisters: William “Stoy” White, Cloverport, Kent., James “Roy” White and wife Donna, Tell City, Ind.; Ella “Ailene”Davis, Cloverport, Carl White and wife Rosa, Cloverport, Mary Moore and husband Eddie, Kingswood, Kent., Nellie Denham and husband Stoy, Cloverport, Ruby Blakely and husband Bob Jr, Louisville, Kent., Hewitt White and wife Sue, Cloverport, Susie Blakely, Louisville, and Tim White, Holland, Ind.; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
