Billy Blaine Schlein, 83, of Duncan passed away on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with Nathan Tate and Jerl Joslin officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Bill was born June 8, 1930, at Tucker Community. He was the son of William and Zee (Chapman) Schlein. He graduated from Lawton High School and attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Bill was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy and he married Renee Marie Eaton on Sept. 14, 1952.
Bill was a charter member of West Side Christian Church, enjoyed fishing, OU football, the Dallas Cowboys and Thunder Basketball. He was employed by Sun Oil Co. for 32 years, working on watches and clocks in the evening. He later operated his own store, Eaton’s Jewelry, which is still family operated today as Schlein Design.
Bill is survived by his wife Renee Marie Schlein of the home; two children Terry Schlein and wife Gina of Duncan and Sharla Tate and husband Nathan of Newcastle; four grandchildren Sheena Marie Johnson and husband Jeff, Shana Beth Schlein, Lauren Marie McKee and husband Michael, and Nicholas Lynn Tate, and a host of other family and close friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Luke Thaxton, Nicholas Tate, Shannon Sanders, Jeff Johnson, Matt McCoy and David Cox. Honorary bearers will be Randy Rosine, Paul Parrish, Dale Goffin, John Eaton, Paul Eaton, Joe Grissom, Robert Grissom, Steven Grissom, Jay Thaxton, Davey Thaxton and Michael McKee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
