Oleta Byford, 88, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 in Marlow.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 24, in Duncan Cemetery, with Robert Teague officiating, under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 p.m. today.
Oleta was born in Duncan on March 25, 1925 to Hugh and Frankie (Bankhead) Wilkinson. She had four brothers, Earnest, Eugene, Fred and Hugh Wilkinson; and five sisters, Ruby Meeks, Mildred Cook, Lorena Wilkinson, Augusta Mobley Watzlavick and Cletis Bullard.
She was a member of Elk Avenue Church of Christ.
Oleta and Nolan Byford were married Feb. 1, 1945 in Duncan. He preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1987.
She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Shorter, and husband Harold; two sons, Mike Byford and Richard Byford and wife, Donna, all of Duncan; two grandchildren, Carey and Kathy Shorter of Duncan and Regina and Davy Howell of Spring, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Allison Howell and Dalton Howell of Spring, Texas, Tanner Shorter of Duncan and Chylie Teel of Wheatland, Wyo.: two great-great-grandchildren, Stephani and Cody Howell of Spring, Texas. She is also survived by two sisters, Augusta Mobley Watzlavick of Lawton, and Cletis Bullard of Big Spring, Texas, two sisters-in-law, Babe Brister and Pat Byford; and a special nephew, Ronnie Byford of LasVegas, Nev., who had a special place in her heart.
Oleta was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Frankie Wilkinson, four brothers, Earnest, Eugene, Fred and Hugh Wilkinson and three sisters, Ruby Meeks, Mildred Cook and Lorena Wilkinson.
