Cletis Earl Ball

June 10, 1922 — May 18, 2013

MARLOW —  Cletis Earl Ball, 90, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Duncan.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at the Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Bernhardt officiating. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.

Family visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 20 at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.

Cletis was born Saturday, June 10, 1922, in Jefferson County to James Samuel and Henryetta (Chisum) Ball. He was one of 13 children. Cletis graduated from Union Valley Schools and lived most of his life in the Marlow area.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On Feb. 3, 1940, Cletis married Bonnie Ray White in Waurika. She preceded him death Nov. 7, 1994. Cletis retired from Halliburton after working in the truck shop for 25 years. He was a farmer and rancher.

He loved taking care of family, farm and raising cattle. Cletis was a basketball fan and enjoyed attending games. He was involved in several organizations and served as president of the Marlow School Board and past president of the election board. Cletis was of the baptist faith.

Survivors include son, Cletis Ray Ball of Marlow; daughters, Betty Lou Silas of Yukon, Janice Underwood and husband James of Granbury, Texas; grandchildren, Vicki Anderson and husband Bob, Kay Hawkins, Patty Coast and husband Randy, Melvin Caldwell, Jim Underwood and wife Rene, Jana Bates, Casey Ball, JJ Ball and wife Janie; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother, Bill Ball of Bowie, Texas; sisters, Pauline Hudson of Duncan, Jo Robinett of Duncan, Dessie Lamb of Lawton, Mozelle Allen of Oklahoma City; many nieces and nephews.

Cletis was also preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Neva Sue Gibson, son-in-law, Boudreau Gibson, daughter-in-law, Kris Ball, five sisters and two brothers.

Pallbearers will be Bob Anderson, Jim Underwood, Craig Gibson, Chance Anderson, Josh Matson, Randy Coast. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Caldwell, Casey Ball, JJ Ball. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eastside Baptist Church Building Fund. Online condolences may be made to www.callawaysmithcobb.com.
