LAWTON — Herta “Dolly” Rachwal was born Aug. 16, 1926 in Kitzingen, Germany, to Betty Hiller and Hans Doll. She died Aug. 20, 2013, at a hospital in Oklahoma City. She was 87 years of age.

Funeral service will be at noon Friday, Aug. 23, at Whinery-Huddleston Chapel officiated by pastor Randy Southerland. Burial will be at Post Cemetery at Fort Sill, under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at the funeral home.

Dolly grew up with her family and attended local schools in Kitzingen, Germany. After graduating from high school, she worked for the Post Exchange in Kitzingen. In 1951, she met Walter Rachwal, when he was stationed on the military post in Kitzingen. They were married March 18, 1953, in Kitzingen.

She was a devoted military wife and mother. She traveled to various places worldwide as a military family. Most noteworthy was when Walter was stationed at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and Lawton/Fort Sill, which is where she decided to call home. She had always been a great cook. She also enjoyed arts and crafts when she was younger.

She is preceded in death by both parents, Hans and Betty Doll; two brothers: Hans Doll Jr., Karl Doll; two sisters: Annelise Furman, Liane Hubbard.

She is survived by her husband, Walter of 60 years; son, Steven Rachwal and his wife Milissa of Duncan; grandchild, Olivia Rachwal of Duncan; two sisters-in-law: Henrietta Wieczorak of Dover, Del., and Mary Rachwal, of Medina, N.Y. She also has many loving and caring nieces, nephews and many extended family members.
