Price Derald Ward, a lifelong resident of Comanche, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at his home, following a sudden illness. He was 86 years old.
Graveside service, with military honors, will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Fairlawn Cemetery, under direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Friday.
Derald was born Feb. 7, 1927, in Addington, to Price and Eva Gallop Ward. He was a graduate of Comanche High School. He proudly served his country in the United State Army. Derald worked for many years as a pipefitter.
He was a member of the Plumber and Pipefitter Local 344. He and Pat Mayes Box were united in marriage April 29, 1965. Derald loved to fish, play dominoes with his friends and was a diehard OU Sooner fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Jones and husband Jerry, Comanche; a step-daughter, Sue Rountree and husband Doug, Houston, Texas; his grandchildren: Dana Kostel and husband Tom, Huron, S.D., Darren Jones and wife Wenona, Guthrie, Denise Owens and husband David, Foster; a step-grandson, Michael Williams, Houston; great-grandchildren: Megan Petrick and husband Shawn, Austin, Texas, Clay Kostel, Huron, S.D., Briley Jones, Cache, Madalynn Jones, Guthrie, Adin Cain, Comanche, and Allison Cain, Comanche.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat; a daughter, Mary Lynn Ward; and his parents.
