Darvis M. Craig

Jan. 18, 1924 — Nov. 21, 2013

DUNCAN — Darvis M. Craig, 89, passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and hold a private family burial under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.

Darvis was born Jan. 18, 1924, in Carver to Monroe and Ellen (Clark) Craig. He married Wanda Eddington on April 15, 1947, in Stillwater.

Darvis served in the U.S. Army from 1942-46 and fought in the Rhineland Central Europe Campaign during WW II. After the war, he graduated from Oklahoma A&M with a BS in commerce. He then began working for Sohio Oil Co. in Oklahoma City.

Upon obtaining his CPA, he began working for the IRS and moved to Duncan. Then he went to work for Walt Fortner, CPA, until he started his own CPA firm, where he worked until his retirement in 1979.  

He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served in various positions. He was a member of the Duncan Kiwanis Club and was an avid golfer and fisherman.

Darvis is survived by his wife Wanda of the home; two children Christy Bethany of Chandler, Ariz. and Ron Craig and wife Karon of Duncan; one grandson Brandon Craig, his children Miles, Jade and Mason, all of Duncan; and a granddaughter Melissa Craig of Moore.

Darvis was preceded in death by his parents, a brother O.C. Craig and a sister Lavona Harryman.
