Ruth Evelyn Farmer

Dec. 17, 1917 — Oct. 13, 2013

DUNCAN — Ruth Evelyn Farmer, 95, passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, in Duncan A private memorial is planned. There will be a visitation from 12-3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21 at the family home at 606 S. 15th Street, Duncan.

A Bailey native and longtime Duncan resident went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013. Her husband, Tony Farmer, preceded Ruth in death on Dec. 22, 2007. They had been married 70 years upon his passing. They were married on July 3, 1937, in Marlow.

Ruth Evelyn (Pittman) Farmer was born Dec. 17, 1917, to Calvin and Lyda (Bryson) Pittman on the home place in Bailey. She was the eleventh child and baby of the family, but was not spoiled in any way according to her.

Ruth leaves behind a legacy of four children. Vernon Farmer and wife Sherry, Michael Farmer and wife Andrea, Donna Woodall and husband Edward, all of Duncan, and David Farmer and wife Brenda of Talbott, Tenn. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

A long-time piano teacher, pianist and organist for Wesley United Methodist Church, her love of her students and the music she shared with the world touched the lives of all who knew and loved her. She loved living life on her terms and being independent. The family is so appreciative to her companions/caregivers, Anna and Dustin Summers for making this happen.

Her four legged fury child “Fala” was always alert and loving, and had to be with Ruth at all times, and now is mourning her loss.

We know the music in Heaven is sweeter and she is with Dad, her love of 75 years. May the celebration continue on and on for eternity.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to Wesley United Methodist Church in Duncan.

Poll

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
