Alton Lockett

March 17, 1936 — Aug. 23, 2013

GRANBURY, Texas — — On the evening of Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, our loving Lord and Father lovingly embraced His son Alton Lockett and took him home. Funeral service is at 11 a.m. today at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at the Granbury Cemetery.

Alton was born on March 17, 1936, in Lamesa, Texas to Wesley and Geneva Lockett. He graduated from Empire High School, where he excelled in academics, football and baseball. He met Genell, his lifelong love, in 1955 and they were married just two years later.

They soon had a daughter, Vickie and son, Dana, eventually settling in Granbury, Texas. He enjoyed his farming life with his brother and best friend, Lyndell and his wife Helen in Granbury. His sons-in-law, Russell Robert and Maury Edwards, his grandsons, Brandon, Brent and Marshall were joyful additions to his life.

Alton was a very hard working son, father and husband. He took great pride in everything he did and in all relationships he fostered. He thoughtfully practiced the long term value and sense of life while loving the land, his friends and above all, his family. While we will miss him terribly, we know he is in the loving hands of his and our, Lord and God where he will be eternally happy.

Poll

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
