Father Marc James Clifford, former associate pastor of Assumption Parish in Duncan passed away March 31, 2013, in Columbia, Mo. A Mass of Resurrection was held for him April 5, 2013, at the St. Thomas More Newman Center of the University of Missouri.
Marc Clifford was born Sept. 8, 1941, to the late Eugene and Margaret Clifford in Niagara Falls, New York. He graduated as Class Valedictorian from Bishop Duffy High School in 1959. He began his education for the priesthood with the Oblates of St. Francis De Sales in Childs, Maryland. He received a B.S. Summa Cum Laude from Niagara University and a M.A. in Theology from the Catholic University of America.
He was ordained to the priesthood on Sept. 6, 1969.
Father Clifford taught and worked as an administrator at Bishop Duffy which later became Niagara Catholic High School from 1970 to 1982. He also taught at Oblate high schools in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Toledo, Ohio and Salt Lake City, Utah. Before retiring to Columbia, Missouri he worked as the Catholic Campus Minister for the University of North Texas in Denton and Texas Women’s College.
He is survived by several cousins and friends.
