Jewel ‘Ted’ Etheridge

May 9, 1943 — April 3, 2013

DUNCAN — Jewel “Ted” Etheridge was born May 9, 1943, in Abiline, Texas, to Jewel Lee and Ethel Smelser Etheridge. He passed from this life Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at his home in Duncan.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at Patterson Avenue Baptist Church in Comanche, with Dow Pannell and Gary Thurman officiating. Burial will be in the Graham Cemetery under direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Waurika.

Ted was a 1961 Comanche High School graduate. Ted joined the US Navy in 1964. He retired as Senior Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of service to his country. He came home to Duncan, to work at ODOT from which he also retired after 20 years.

He is survived by his children: Gerald Etheridge and wife Ronda of Duncan, Susan Etheridge and husband Kyle of Duncan, Jerretta Davidson and husband Terry of Comanche, and LaResa Sanders of Duncan, Thumper Morris and wife Megan of Jacksonville, Texas and Greg Caton of Oregon. He is also survived by two sisters, numerous nephews and numerous grandchildren.   

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louise Marie Andal in 1997; and wife, Virginia Kay Justus in 2009.
