Donald Paul Keck

DUNCAN — Dec. 2, 1953 — Dec. 31, 2001

Donald Paul Keck, 57, of Duncan, died on Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6 at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Arnold Nelson Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Letitia Community Cemetery, (between Duncan and Lawton).

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1953, in Duncan, the son of Carl Wilson and Betty Louise (Newman) Keck. He graduated from Empire High School in 1972.

Donald married Rovena Gates on Aug. 28, 1980 at Wichita Falls, Texas.

Paul's battle began 2 1/2 years ago, when he was diagnosed with an aggressive skin cancer, Malignant Melanoma. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Paul was a family man who cherished life and loved the Lord.

He and his Dad were home builders in Duncan and they built numerous houses throughout the area, He later went to work for Oklahoma Department of Transportation Materials Division in Oklahoma City for 25 years. He made countless friends throughout the state, that later became family to him.

He and his wife were devoted foster parents for 10 years. Paul also volunteered with the literacy council in Tishomingo. He was a member of the Red Cross for five years and went on disaster relief programs throughout the country.

He remained an avid Sooner and Dallas Cowboy fan throughout his life. Donald was a member of First Christian Church.

Some of his fondest memories were planting gardens, running trot lines and watching his kids grow up into the best people he knew. We will miss this extraordinary wonderful man.

Survivors include his wife, Rovena of the home, his parents, Carl and Betty Keck of Duncan, a son, Chris Keck of Norman, three daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry Brown-Finkbone and Randall Finkbone of Duncan, Elisha Sides and Marshall of Norman, and Krystal Vonfeldt and Cole of Moore, a brother, Freddie Lee Keck of Duncan, five grandchildren: Cody Sutton, Jake Brown, Troy Finkbone, Madison Vonfeldt and Olivia Sides.

He was preceded by his grandparents: Lee and Margerette Keck, Othel and Lewis Newman and his best friend, Harvey Fitzgerald.

Pallbearers will be: Jerry Weatherly, Mike Bilbrey, Jonathon Keck, Dale Jennings, Cody Sutton and Allen Gates.
