Randall Dean Carlson

Oct. 23, 1950 — April 2, 2013

ELGIN — Randall Dean Carlson of Elgin was born Oct. 23, 1950, in Lawton to Oscar E. and Lora Fay (Thornton) Carlson. He passed away April 2, 2013, at his daughter’s home, south of Apache.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Leticia Baptist Church in Pumpkin Center with Deacon Stanley Bruce officiating. Interment will follow at a later date.

Randall graduated from Sterling High School. He married Shirley Ann Dixon on Aug. 15, 1969, in Duncan. He worked for several years as an oilfield pumper. He then moved trailer houses for the Barkers. For the last 20 years, he has been working in salvage and recycling.

He enjoyed visiting with his friends and going to auctions. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.  

He is survived by: his mother Lora Carlson of Sterling; one son Randy and wife Amber Carlson of Duncan; two daughters Lisa and husband Larry Roberts of Apache and Melody Hemmingway of Duncan; eight grandchildren: Michael Shields, DeeAnna Shields, Riley Roberts, Gregory Roberts, Matt Hemmingway, Alexis Carlson, Aubrey Carlson and Ryan Carlson; one great-granddaughter Paisley Kay Roberts; one sister Barbara and husband, Mike Barker of Sterling; two nieces Angie and husband, Hino Geiger of Sterling and Eva and husband, Boo Gray of Sterling.

He was preceded in death by his father Oscar Carlson.

Mr. Carlson generously gifted his body to the Oklahoma University Willed Body Program. His family would also like to express their gratitude to Aspire Hospice for their loving care.

    Twyla was born Feb. 20, 1937, in Duncan, to Willard and Ruth Tinkle and died April 16, 2014, after a brief illness. Twyla lived her entire life in the Duncan area.

    Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.

    Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, with the Rev. Jay Driskill officiating. Burial will be in the Temple Cemetery under direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.
