Celestine Faye Wilson

March 19, 1942 — May 3, 2013

DUNCAN — Celestine Faye Wilson, 71, of Duncan passed away Friday, May 3, 2013, in Duncan.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 6, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Celestine was born March 19, 1942, in Gorman, Texas, to William Abb and Dorotha (Wood) Barnett. She graduated from Velma-Alma High School, received her bachelors degree in education from East Central State University and her masters degree in education from Southeastern State University.

She was an elementary teacher and principal for 25 years, teaching in the Duncan Public Schools for 20 years, serving as principal at Velma-Alma Schools for two years and Webber Falls for two years and retired in March of 1998.

Celestine married Thurman M. Wilson on April 20, 1999, in Eureka Springs, Ark., and together they were active in the Immanuel Baptist Church, Campers on Mission and Retired Builders & Volunteers at Valley Baptist Retreat. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading and quilting for her family and the under privileged in Mexico.

Celestine is survived by her husband Thurman of the home;  children, Dennis Morris and wife Tonya of Duncan, Joe Morris and wife Cheryl of Duncan, Starlet Files and husband Shan of Velma, Randy Wilson and wife Aleta of Duncan, Lisa Dylina and husband Tim of Kerrville, Texas, and Patti Derrick and husband David of Prosper, Texas; a brother Doyle E. Barnett and wife Sue of Shreveport, La.; 11 grandchildren, Brent Morris and wife Brianna, Trenten Files, Shalyn Files, Justin Morris, Clay Morris, Clay Wilson, Mitch Wilson, Brian Wilson, Cortney Morris, Ashley Morris, Catelin Morris, Justin Lindsey and wife Chelci, David Derrick IV, Christi Wright, Robert Dylina, Elizabeth Tingley and husband Chad, Karsen Baker and Kale Baker; and three great-grandchildren Caylei Wilson, Jacob Lindsey and Lyla Tingley.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother Burney Ray Barnett.

Pallbearers will be Brent Morris, Trenten Files, Justin Morris, Clay Wilson, Mitch Wilson and Brian Wilson. Honorary bearers will be Robert Davenport, Jim Wood, Wallace Mooney, Jake Gunkel, Jack McLain, Terry Walker and James Trusley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 207 N. 2nd  Duncan, OK  73533.
