Barbara Lu McNeill

Jan. 1, 1954 — April 29, 2014

VELMA — Barbara Lu (Ossenbeck) McNeill, 60, passed away surround by her family April 29, 2014.

She was born Jan. 1, 1954 to B.E. (Gene) Ossenbeck and Elna O. (Haynie) Ossenbeck of Velma. Barbara was married to Gary (Phil) McNeill. They raised two sons.

Barbara ran and operated Barb’s Answering Service; she also did the Velma newspaper as well as the cable company.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gary Phil McNeill and her brother Michael Dixion Ossenbeck.

Barbara is survived by her two sons, Michael P. McNeill and his wife Sherry McNeill of Norman, Cory B. McNeill and his partner Stephanie Koonce of Duncan. She also had a brother Bill Ossenbeck and his wife Vonna Ossenbeck of Amarillo, Texas, a sister, Pat Manley and her husband Perry Manley of Lake Dallas, Texas, and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She also had five grandchildren: Preston McNeill and his wife Megan, Hope McNeill and Courtney McNeill all of Norman, Katlyn Koonce and Brayden Koonce of Duncan, and one great-grandchild on the way: Jayden McNeill. Barbara will be missed and loved by all of her family and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. May 10 at Velma United Methodist Church.

Family friend Monk Firestone will direct services. All flowers may be delivered to the Methodist Church.
