DUNCAN — Jan. 6, 1921-April 1, 2014

Andy Poage of Duncan, a former Sugden resident, peacefully passed away Tuesday evening, April 1, 2014 in Duncan. He was 93 years old. A funeral service will be held Friday April 4, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Praise Assembly of God Church with Pastor Wade Peyton and Pastor Warren Harkins officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sugden Cemetery.

Andy was born on Jan. 6, 1921 at Hamlin, Texas to Joseph T. and Violet E. (Wood) Poage. On Aug. 22, 1942 he and Zelma Roberts were united in marriage at Ryan, Okla. Andy worked for 32 years at Waurika Body Works as an auto body repairman. He enjoyed fishing, camping, working with horses, watching bull riding, raising parakeets and building parakeet nests. He loved playing dominos, and he looked forward to his weekly domino games with his nephew, David. He attended Praise Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Pat Bond and husband Walker of Duncan; a granddaughter, Melinda Ray and husband Chris of Duncan; four great-grandchildren: Jessica, Sarah, Abbie and Allison Ray, all of Duncan; a brother, Robert Poage, of Kingman, Ariz. and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Zelma in 1994, a grandson, Steven Bond, in 1992, three brothers: Hollis , Jim and Billy Earl, and two sisters, Nettie Mae and Betty Jo.

    Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, Duncan. Interment will follow where Bette will be laid to rest beside her husband in a family cemetery in Alma.
