Kenneth Dean Gauthun, 86, of Duncan passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014, Duncan Regional Hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m Thursday in the Freedom Biker Church with the Rev. Billy Morgan officiating. Interment will be in the Duncan Cemetery under direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends for visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Kenneth was born March 27, 1928, at Madison, S.D., the son of Oscar and Christina Olson Gauthun. He retired from the United States Army, where he served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
He and Ursula Eckardt married May 5, 1953, at Fulda, Germany. He loved to talk with other veterans in his capacity as the chaplin of the VFW, loved to work in the garden, but his greatest love was spending time with his family. He served as deacon in the City Heights Baptist Church and later joined the Freedom Biker Church, where he loved the time he spent with the men in the Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Ursula of the home in Duncan; son, Dieter Gauthun and his wife Cathy of Duncan; daughter, Shirley Stinnett and her husband Mike of Duncan; grandchildren: Rachel Wiseley and her husband Larry, Dean Gauthun and Kelly Gauthun; great-grandchildren: Kortney Brown, Boston Brown, Treasury Gauthun, Jacob Gauthun, Keegan Gauthun and Aribella Gauthun; and a special family friend, Tommy Anthony.
