William Parker “Bill” Bridges, 84, of Duncan, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2014, in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Bill was born Dec. 8, 1929, in Houston to Parker and Laura (Jones) Bridges. He married Virginia Ellen Lehman on Oct. 1, 1953, in Pauls Valley, Okla., and she preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 1996. Bill was a Christian man, enjoying all things God-given. He was an avid bird hunter, loved to fish and never missed an opportunity to attend a grandchild’s sporting event. He retired from Halliburton Services in their Mechanical Research Dept.
Bill is survived by children: Kathy Bridges of Duncan; Buddy Bridges of North Dakota; and David Bridges and wife, Leslie of Comanche; grandchildren: Chance Bridges, Cole Bridges, Lori Beth Crispin, Jenni Bridges and Amber Bridges; four great-grandchildren and a host of other family and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Parker and Laura Bridges, his wife, Virginia and a son, Mike Bridges.
Pallbearers will be Sam Elam, Colt Elam, Jerry Kendall, Mark Kendall, Boyd Montgomery and David Hunt.
Honorary bearers will be Ray Edmondson, Mike Brown and Dawson Clark.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
