Bill passed from this life Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at his home in Walters, following a six year long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by a host of family, friends and angels.
Bill was born Aug. 25, 1939, in Lawton, to William Sherman and Mabel (Goalden) Hornbeck. He attended high school in Wilson, where he was an all-district end in football. He married the love of his life, Sandra Fondren on May 2, 1964, in Healdton.
Bill worked as a police officer in Wilson, Healdton, Kingston, Comanche and Temple. He also served as a deputy sheriff in Marshall County. His last employment was his most enjoyable, as pastor of God’s Helping Hands House of Prayer, in Walters.
His favorite things to do were preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, fishing, hunting, spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and joking around with others. He contributed so much to this life through God’s knowledge, and gave a chance to so many that others would turn away. Never having an earthly father, he was a father to many who grew up in and around his home.
