Bill passed from this life Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at his home in Walters, following a six year long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by a host of family, friends and angels.

Bill was born Aug. 25, 1939, in Lawton, to William Sherman and Mabel (Goalden) Hornbeck. He attended high school in Wilson, where he was an all-district end in football. He married the love of his life, Sandra Fondren on May 2, 1964, in Healdton.

Bill worked as a police officer in Wilson, Healdton, Kingston, Comanche and Temple. He also served as a deputy sheriff in Marshall County. His last employment was his most enjoyable, as pastor of God’s Helping Hands House of Prayer, in Walters.

His favorite things to do were preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, fishing, hunting, spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and joking around with others. He contributed so much to this life through God’s knowledge, and gave a chance to so many that others would turn away. Never having an earthly father, he was a father to many who grew up in and around his home.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra of the home; five sons: Billy Kent Hornbeck and girlfriend Donna of Lindsay, Johnny Allen Hornbeck, Ponca City, Irley Ross Hornbeck and wife Paula, Walters, Jesse Gordon Hornbeck and wife Tammy, Temple, and David Howard Hornbeck and wife Paige, Walters; two daughters: Vanessa Moore and husband Brian, Duncan, and Shelley Hawkey and husband Alan, Temple; 22 grandchildren: Amanda, Kenneth, John Mark, Jay Michael, Miranda, Kayla, Anthony, Joey, Harley, Monte, Christina, Emily Mae, Cody Lane, Ashley, Joshua, Tiffany, Winston, Destiny, Shawna, Randy, Jason and Raliegh; 14 great-grandchildren: Anthony, Christian, Hope, Cole, Erin, Cale, Colton, Gabriel, Blakely, Ty, Conner and Zoey.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: LeRoy Hornbeck, Irley Ross “Boshie” Hornbeck, Calvin Hornbeck and Carl Hornbeck; seven sisters: Gertrude Willis, Willie Mae Adams, Wanda Tuck, Florence Phelps, Betty Jo Burns, Irene Sanner and Ruby Cree; a grandson, Kenneth Olan “Brother” Hornbeck; and many other relatives and dear friends.
