Bob L. Sullaway

Aug. 11, 1939 — Dec. 23, 2011

DUNCAN — Bob L. Sullaway, 72, of Duncan, passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at home from complications of congestive heart failure.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, in Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tracy L. Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Bob was born Aug. 11, 1939, in Chandler, to Clint and Glendola Hall Sullaway. He attended Duncan High School and graduated from Oklahoma University with a bachelor of science degree in petroleum engineering.

Bob married Beverly Robinson in Duncan on Sept. 2, 1960, and they made their home in Norman until moving to Duncan in 1963.

Bob worked as a production and reservoir engineer for Mac Oil Company for six years before making his career with Halliburton Services. He held several positions in his 31 years at Halliburton and retired in June 2000 as Senior Global Advisor of Casing Equipment Products. In his later years, he operated his own business, B & B Sprinkler Systems in the Duncan area, eventually working jointly with his nephew Jimmy McCord.

Bob lived for his family and delighted in using his varied building skills to help his children with home-improvement projects. He helped to raise his grandson Anthony of whom he was especially proud. He cherished granddaughters, Brooklyn and Emily, who spent many hours playing in his TV room loaded with toys and in the sunroom he built.

Bob was a member of Chisholm Trail Church of Christ. He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly of Duncan; his daughter, Julie Sullaway-Sanders and son-in-law, Joey Sanders of Tulsa; son, Mark and wife, Dana of Duncan; daughter, Jennifer Mazza and her children: Anthony, Brooklyn and Emily of Duncan; sister, Sheila McCord of Duncan; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Gunn of Ardmore.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donnie.

Pall bearers will be Steve Strike, Gail Davis, Jimmy McCord, Lynn Etheridge, Ron Gibson and Glen  Edwards.

Honorary bearers will be Morris Baldrich, David Laurel, Chris Mazza, Mike Waller, Kern Porter  and Donnie Winslow.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1942 or the Alzheimer’s Association.
