William Carroll ‘W.C.’ Hackler

Oct. 13, 1927 — June 21, 2013

COMANCHE —  William Carroll “W.C.” Hackler, 85, of Comanche, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 in Oklahoma City.  

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, in Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Terry Schlein officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Sharon Cemetery, Gotebo, under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.  

The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5:30-7 p.m. Monday.

W.C. was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Cloud Chief, the son of Bascum L. and Essie Mae (Richey) Hackler.

He served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II. He later married Lois Lomenick on May 21, 1948 in Cloud Chief.  They moved to Comanche, and he worked for Halliburton Services as a purchasing agent in the Raw Materials Department, retiring in 1991. He was a member of West Side Christian Church in Duncan.

W.C. is survived by his wife, Lois, of the home; two sons, Eddie Hackler, and wife, Pam, of Arlington, Texas, and Steve Hackler of Grandview; one daughter, Vicky Smallwood and husband, Eddie of Venus, Texas; one brother, Ross Hackler, and wife, LaRita of Anderson, S.C; one sister, Nadine Hackler, of Gainesville, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, Jeremy Hackler, Blaise Hackler, Brant Hackler, Travis Hackler, Jessica Hackler, Ben Hackler, Bryson Hackler, Wade Smallwood, Spencer Smallwood, Sloan Smallwood and Meagan Gross.  

He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Ashley, Matthew, Asher, Christian, Jace, Evie, Brendan and Campbell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bascum and Essie Hackler.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, and honorary bearers will be Randy and Janet Rosine, Barbara Snodgrass and the Charity Sunday School Class of West Side Christian Church.

    Twyla was born Feb. 20, 1937, in Duncan, to Willard and Ruth Tinkle and died April 16, 2014, after a brief illness. Twyla lived her entire life in the Duncan area.
