TEMPLE — Aurelia Parkey Knox Carman, 87, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 at New Hope Baptist Church West, with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating, assisted by Rev. Jay Driskill. Burial will be in the Temple Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Viewing will take place Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Hart-Wyatt in Temple. Viewing on Friday at Don Grantham Funeral Home in Duncan from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. that afternoon.  

Aurelia Parkey Knox Carman was born on July 12, 1926 to Matilda Elizabeth Wright Parkey and James

Randall Parkey at the family home southwest of Temple. She attended Kneedler Grade School and graduated from Temple High School in 1944.

Aurelia married Joseph Maynard Knox Oct. 12, 1946. Aurelia was a homemaker and also worked as a secretary before she retired.  Maynard passed away in 1974. In 2001 Aurelia married John Edwin Carman and they made their home in Duncan.

Aurelia is survived by her husband, Ed, of the home, her daughters and sons-in-law, Carole and Jim Mumford of Walters and Brenda and Bob Dossett of Billings, Montana; three grandchildren and their spouses, Brent and Lisa Mumford, Walters, Jana and Brian Welch of Lake Jackson, Texas and Lindsey and Jerod Stinson of Gillette, Wyoming; five great-grandchildren, Ashley and Bobby Shortt,  Heather and Casey Sides, all of Walters, Brandon and Braxton Welch of Lake Jackson, and Dylan and Rylee Stinson, Gillette; and five great-great grandchildren, Crue, Creed, and Bobbie Mechelle Shortt, and Cash and Cannon Sides, all of Walters, three step-children, Carla and Robert Felix, Haley and Anna of Edmond, Craig and Joy Carman, Brent, Chad and April, New Orleans, Louisiana and Clark and Cecile Carman, Andrew, Angela and Tarquin, Elijah and Reuben, Victoria, TX; and Amanda and Danny, Aidan, Daniela, and Allah, Fort Worth, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Aurelia was preceded in death by her first husband, Maynard Knox, her parents, J.R. and Matilda Parkey, six brothers, Ed, Carl, Seth, Joe, Fred, and Wade Parkey, and three sisters Georgia Doss, Marie Cooper, Sue Clingman and Oveta Burke.
