Joiel LeRoy “Mack” Chapman

Sept. 18, 1938 — Feb. 4, 2014

DUNCAN — Joiel LeRoy “Mack” Chapman, 75, of Duncan, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, in the Saint Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Bethesda Church of God with the Rev. Harold Metheny officiating. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche under direction of Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends for visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mack was born Sept. 18, 1938, at Hastings, the son of Joiel Oliver and Oma Mitchell Chapman. He attended the Loco Schools and served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963. He and Elwanda Winter married Dec. 31, 1959, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and she preceded him in death.

He worked for Bullards Oil Field Service for 38 years. He loved working on cars, fishing, hunting, rodeo and working with animals.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his son, Gary Chapman and his wife Sharon of Rowlett, Texas; his daughter, Janet Gibbs of Duncan; three granddaughters: Dallas Cowen and her husband Freddy of Duncan, Kimberly Chapman of Rowlett, and Kelly Costello and her husband Sean of Rockwall, Texas; three great-grandchildren: Halie Cowen of Duncan, and Kaylee and Emma Wait both of Rowlett; two brothers: Bob Chapman of Whitewright, Texas, and Autie Chapman of Colorado City, Texas; and two sisters: Mary O’Dell of Choctaw, and Ada Huckabee of St. Jo, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Joe Stewart, Skeet Chapman, Bim Chapman, W.O. Chapman, Mark Ely, Levi Williams and Sean Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Don Bullard, Bob Chapman, Autie Chapman and Anthony McCartney.
