DUNCAN — Juanita Hill passed peacefully from this life Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Duncan Regional Hospital.

Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Meridian First Baptist Church, with Bro. Randy Southerland officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche under direction of Comanche Funeral Home.

Juanita was born May 12, 1923, in Marlow, to Rufas Edward Huey and Fannie Selby Huey.  She was the youngest of nine children, with four older brothers and four older sisters. She graduated from Cox City High School in 1941.

At the age of 16, Juanita accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She was a long time active member of Meridian First Baptist Church, where she dearly loved her Sunday school class, preparing meals and decorating the church. She was a member of Tri Delta Sorority and an avid Bunko player.

On April 3, 1943, in Maysville, Juanita married the love of her life Thomas C. Hill II. They enjoyed 70 years together, until his death May 17, 2013. The couple was blessed with two children: a daughter Sharon Dianne and a son Thomas C. III.

In 1947 the family moved to the Meridian community, where they made their home for 57 years. The last three years, Juanita lived with her daughter and son-in-law. Juanita loved being a wife and mother.

In 1959, she decided to work outside the home and for the next 13 years she was cook at the Meridian Grade School. She enjoyed the holidays, especially Christmas. She loved decorating her home and hosting many parties for family and friends. Preparing food for people was one of her passions.

Juanita enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren perform, whether it was twirling at a football game, dance recitals, basketball or baseball games. She was there cheering them on. This past summer she was able to travel to several places and watch her great-grandson Tyler play baseball.

A beautiful lady inside and out, she had a smile for everyone. She will be greatly missed.

Juanita is survived by her daughter, Sharon Cooper and husband Jimmy of Duncan; a son, Tommy Hill and wife Sharon of Meridian; a granddaughter, Kelli Burke, Duncan; grandson, Robert Hill and wife Shelby of Katy, Texas; great-grandsons Tyler Burke, Hayden Hill and Hudson Hill; two sisters-in-law: Midge Huey of Comanche, and Virginia Wright of Caledonia, Miss.; several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild, several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers Bennie Huey, Willie Huey, Marvin Huey, and Raymond Huey; and four sisters Edna Barrington, Clara Kern, Bonnie Morrison Green, and Melba Huey.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Burke, Billy Hill, Ricky Barrington, Keith Barrington, Don Simmons, Larry Palmer and Bob Ivester.
