Marcella ‘Sally’ Bowen

April 23, 1940 — July 15, 2013

COMANCHE —  Marcella “Sally” Bowen, a longtime resident of Comanche, passed away suddenly, Monday, July 15, 2013, in Ada. She was 73 years old.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at Praise Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Wade Peyton and the Rev. Warren Harkins officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under direction of Comanche Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday. Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Sally was born April 23, 1940, in Madill, to J.S. and Imogene McDaniel Orum. She and Jerrell Bowen were united in marriage Dec. 24, 1955, at Wichita Falls, Texas. They made their home in the Comanche area, where they raised their two daughters.

Sally was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, attending bluegrass festivals with her husband, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of T.O.P.S.  Sally was a member of Praise Assembly of God Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include two daughters: Diana Armsworthy and husband James, Comanche, and Janet DeFate and husband J.W. of Duncan; three grandchildren: Jared Armsworthy, Duncan, Justin Torres and wife Julia, Lawton, and Sarah Torres, Duncan; two brothers: Jimmy Orum and wife Linda, Houston, Texas, Gary Orum and wife Janet, Norman; a sister, Brenda Massie and husband Bobby, Purcell; two sisters-in-law, Pam Orum, Tulsa, and Sherry Dobbins and husband Tommy, Comanche; and many other relatives and friends.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Jerrell in 2010; her parents; a brother, Larry Orum; and her step-mother, Ida Orum.

Pallbearers will be David Griffin, Johnny Hicks, Chad Welch, Jeff Davis, Jared Armsworthy and Justin Torres.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
