Dalton Paul Paxson Sr.

April 9, 1945 — Feb. 15, 2014

DUNCAN — Dalton Paul Paxson Sr., 68, passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, in Ratliff City, surrounded by his loving family.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Alma Cemetery, Alma, with Roger Sims officiating. Services are under direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.

Dalton was born April 9, 1945, in Zanesville, Ohio, to Floyd Orville and Lula Edith Howell Paxson. He attended Zanesville High School. He served in the United States Army from 1969, until his retirement in October of 1989.

Dalton married Naomi Jane Henley on March 10, 1973, in Reno, Nev. He owned and operated a small engine repair shop until 2008. Not only did he enjoy working with his hands, but he enjoyed visiting with the people he met.

Dalton is survived by his wife, Naomi of the home; his son, Dalton Paul Paxson Jr. and wife, Rita, of Mansfield, Ohio; his daughter, Starr J. Richmond of Westerville, Ohio; his son, John Paxson and wife, Jeannine, of Duncan; his daughter, Samantha Long and husband, Bobby, of Duncan. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Clayton Richmond, Prezlie Paxson, Hillary Paxson, Charles Paul Marcum, Jarrod Paxson, Cheyenne Bench, Dalton Paul Paxson III, Colton Bench, Kacee Paxson, Christopher Bench and Allyson Paxson; two great-grandchildren: Charles Wayne Marcum and Westyn Hoyt Comisford; two brothers: Donald Paxson and wife, Amy, of Meza, Ariz., and Kenneth Paxson and wife, Sharron, of Newark, Ohio; and, two sisters: Patti Clossman and husband, Gerald, of Zanesville, Ohio, and Ruth Allen and husband, Ron, of Zanesville, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Honorary pallbearers are Dalton Paul Paxson Jr., John Paxson, Charles Paul Marcum, Jarrod Paxson, Colton Bench, Christopher Bench, Kacee Paxson and Clayton Richmond, Dalton Paul Paxson III.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Stephens County Honor Guard.
