Elaine Frances Sand

July 8, 1938 — July 3, 2013

DUNCAN — Elaine Frances Sand passed from this life Wednesday, July 3, 2013, in Duncan at the age of 74.

Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10 at the Don Grantham Funeral Home with Rev. Tracy L. Wilson officiating. The family will be receiving visitors from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, July 9 at the funeral home.

Service and visitation will be under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.

Elaine was born July 8,1938, in Newark, N.J. to Frank M. and Sophie K. Charles. She graduated from East Orange High School in New Jersey. She received her LPN certification. She married the love of her life, Dieter Jochem Sand on Dec. 27, 1958, in Newark, N.J. He preceded her in death in July of 2000 after 41 wonderful years together.

She worked in the nursing field as an administrative assistant in Rehabilitation Nursing and also served as an assistant case manager in rehabilitation consulting until her retirement in 2003. She enjoyed music, ceramics, reading, crafts, exercising and watching DVDs.

She was a sweet lady who always had a kind word for everyone and loved her animals, especially her dogs, with all her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother Richard F. Charles, and a grandson Brock W. Cossey.

She is survived by three daughters: Erica Cossey of Cement; Sheila Sand of Castlerock, Colo.; and Kathy Drnec and husband Andrew of Aurora, Colo.,three sisters: Arlene Anderson and husband Andrew of Florida; Phyllis Faulter and husband of New York; and Tammy Reil and husband Ken of South Carolina, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Judes Children’s Hospital.

    Twyla was born Feb. 20, 1937, in Duncan, to Willard and Ruth Tinkle and died April 16, 2014, after a brief illness. Twyla lived her entire life in the Duncan area.

    Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.
