James ‘Joe Buck’ W. Fullerton

Aug. 19, 1933 — July 30, 2013

MARLOW — James “Joe Buck” W. Fullerton, 79, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at his home in Marlow.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at the Eastside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Bernhardt and the Rev. Lynn Parkhurst officiating. Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery under direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.

James “Joe Buck” was born Saturday, Aug. 19, 1933, in Marlow, to James E. “Buck” and Mary E. Walker Fullerton. Joe Buck lived in the Marlow area most of his life and attended several old country schools. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

On May 12, 1956, he married Frances Ruth McReynolds in Duncan. Joe Buck worked in Texas in the cotton gins in the early 1960s and later worked in construction as a millwright, retiring after many years.

Joe Buck enjoyed trail riding and raising mules and loved going to mule/horse sales. Joe Buck loved his family and his greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grand children.

He enjoyed gospel singing at family get-togethers. He was a member of the Territorial Wagon Train, Okie Trail Riders Club, Eastside Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include wife, Frances Ruth Fullerton of the home; son, Quinton Fullerton and wife Robbie of Bray; daughters: Shirley Phillips and husband Sonny of Bray, and Sandra Jo Kendall and husband Kerry of Mangum; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers: David Fullerton and wife Elaine, Charley Fullerton and wife Nina of Duncan, Jed Fullerton of Chickasha; sister, Irene Jurek and husband Richard of Hamburg, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Becky Fullerton of Duncan; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Joe Buck was preceded in death by his parents, twin daughters, Carla Ann and Darla Sue Fullerton, two brothers, Jimmy Ray and Robert Calup Fullerton, sister Mary Elaine Fullerton.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons, Matthew Phillips, Corry Kendall, Ryan Kendall, Aron Kendall, Clay Downey, Morgan Downey, Gus Downey and Jayden Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be member of the Territorial Wagon Train, Okie Trail Riders Organization and his great grandsons.

    Twyla was born Feb. 20, 1937, in Duncan, to Willard and Ruth Tinkle and died April 16, 2014, after a brief illness. Twyla lived her entire life in the Duncan area.
