Joy Janell Fisher

Aug. 21, 1937 — Jan. 30, 2013

DUNCAN — Joy Janell Fisher, 75, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at her home in Marlow.

Services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at First Baptist Church in Marlow, with Dr. Joe Ligon officiating. Burial was in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.

Joy was born Saturday, Aug. 21, 1937, in Old Trail Community, north of Marlow, to Joe Eddie and Susie (Cullum) Brown. Joy was a life long resident of the Marlow area and graduated from Marlow High School. On Nov. 6, 1955, she married Johnny Maurice Fisher at his parent’s home in Marlow.

Joy was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing, scrap booking and spinning wool. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her kids and grandkids. Joy loved bible study and going to church and was a member of the JoAnne Sunday school class at First Baptist Church in Marlow.

Survivors include husband Johnny M. Fisher of the home; son, John D. Fisher and wife Kristi of Geneseo, Ill.; daughters, LeAnn Sellers and husband Robby of Marlow and Cindy Lou Maddox of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Saul D. Maddox, Diana Maddox, Stephanie Maddox, Devon Maddox, Jacob Fisher, Hannah Fisher, Moriah Fisher, Ethan Fisher, Terah Fisher and Levi Fisher; great-grandchildren, Maison Maddox, Syles Maddox, Parker Maddox and Temperance Baish; sister, Betty Burnett of Lindsay; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends; and grand dog, Wyatt Earp Sellers.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Michael Maddox and sister Barbara Hogan.

Pallbearers will be Ken Layn, Jim Pryor, Tom Wheat, Bill Garrett, Jim Farmer and Ron Newby. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ken Apple, Bo Bowden and Dr. Jim McGouran.
