June Geraldine Parton

June 24, 1927 — July 20, 2013

DUNCAN — June Geraldine Parton, 86, passed from this life Saturday, July 20, 2013, in Duncan.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Duncan with Rev. Ron Meador and Deacon Ed Younger officiating. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.

June was born Friday, June 24, 1927, in Marlow to Benjamin Fred and Vera Elizabeth (Martin) Loughridge. She graduated from Ninnekah High School in 1944. June lived in the Duncan area since 1970.

On Nov. 3, 1944, June married L. Paul Parton in Chickasha. He preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1994. She enjoyed sewing and doing other handwork activities. Raising and helping to take care of goats was one of June’s many pastimes. June enjoyed cooking. Sunday dinner at Granny’s was an important event for the family.

She loved her family, especially all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. June was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Duncan.

Survivors include two sons Paul O. Parton and Connie of Greenville, Texas, James Dee Parton and Rick Smith of Marion, Iowa, three daughters, Paula June Younger and Ed of Malvern, Ark., Nova Jean Parton of Marlow, Rhonda Jo Cantwell and David of Duncan, 16 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren, brother Freddy G. Loughridge of Tuttle, sister Janelle Saylor of Oklahoma City, and numerous nieces and nephews.

June was preceded in death by her parents and in 1999 by grandson, Paul Andrew Cantwell.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
