L. D. Williams

DUNCAN — L D Williams went to live with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 2, 2014, in Duncan after a farm accident.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dan Standifer officiating and music provided by Buzz Carter. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

L D was a devout family man for many years and had many friends in Stephens County. He was a member of AMVETS, American Legion, DAV and was a charter member of The Stephens County Honor Guard. He only missed meetings or services as have-to cases.

L D was born to Cecil and Esther Williams on Aug. 25, 1929 northeast of Duncan. He lived in Duncan until joining the Air Force. He was discharged April 1954 after proudly serving our country during the Korean Conflict.

L D was married to Rachel May Dudley on Aug. 13, 1949. They lacked six days making 49 years of a wonderful life together. During their marriage they worked in the salvage business, owning Midway Salvage and Clear Creek Salvage. She preceded him in death on Aug. 7, 1998.

L D married Mary Margaret Farr on July 17, 1999. They also enjoyed a blessed farming life together.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; a sister, Opal Barnaby of Moore, Okla.; a brother, Chuck Williams of Oklahoma; daughters, Jaynie Hudgens of Andrews, Texas, Beth Hall and husband Jim of San Angelo, Texas, Lois Whitehead and husband George, Lynn Harris and husband Glen and Angela Seratte and husband Don, all of Comanche; sons, Dee and his wife Shannon of Marlow, Earl and wife Ronna of Roland, Okla., and Terry and wife Tammy of Waggoner, Okla.; a self-adopted son, Garry Brewer of Duncan and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members, that entered his long life.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, Eddie Mae Hamilton; brothers, Raymond and Harvey; sisters, Leta Faye and Margaret Thompson; a son-in-law, Bobby Hudgens and grandsons, Preston Sanders, Jimmy Hogeland and George Whitehead Jr.

The Stephens County Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers and will also provide a military service for L D.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to: The Stephen County Honor Guard; RR #5; Comanche, Okla., 73529.
