Trent L. Anderson

Jan. 10, 1964-April 30, 2014

DUNCAN — Trent L. Anderson, 50 retired Texas State Game Warden, passed from this life Monday, April 30, 2014.  Services will be held 10 a.m., Monday, May 5, 2014 in Lunn’s Colonial Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Allen and Bill Pursley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home.

The family will be at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6–7 p.m. for visitation.

Trent was born Jan. 10, 1964 in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he grew up. In ninth grade, he transferred to Petrolia ISD, graduating in 1982 as Valedictorian. He was an avid football player.

He carried his competitive spirit and dedicated work ethic from sports into his 24-year career as a Game Warden and into his life, always working hard to excel. Beginning his career in Plainview, Texas, he later transferred to Crosbyton, Texas, and in 1996, he was promoted to Captain (one of the youngest ever to receive that office). He became the District Supervisor of Region VI out of the Amarillo office. In 1999, he was named Game Warden of the Year. A Texas Game Warden Association Region VI representative, he was active in legislative work for the Association, spending much time in Austin, speaking before the Legislature. He worked as a peace officer and helped organize meetings for the five state area of Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico and Kansas to discuss law enforcement ideas. He finished his career in Wichita Falls as Captain of Region II. Trent loved law enforcement and the men he led.

Trent also loved his family and friends, and often shared with them his enjoyment of hunting, fishing and cooking. He promoted kid fishing and hunting with Field and Stream and cooked for many benefits as a member of Khiva Shrine Mule Skinners in Amarillo. He was a member of Coors Cowboy Club, volunteering at numerous events and charities in and around the Texas Panhandle. He also served on the Ducks Unlimited Board of Directors in Amarillo and was a Master Mason in the Masonic Lodge.

Trent was not only a lawman, but a man of faith, familiar with the grace of God through Christ. His family takes comfort knowing he’s home.

Trent is survived by his mother, Sharon Briggs Martin of Duncan; his father, Chester (Sonny) Anderson and wife Priscilla of Iowa Park; his children, sons Chase and Matt Anderson, both of Amarillo; daughter Paige Ghastin and husband Chris of Austin; his brother Todd Anderson and wife Jill of Petrolia, Texas; sisters Rhonda Kyle, Danette Adams, Missy Moore and Traci Shackelford and husband Eddie, all of Wichita Falls, Texas; Janet Sims and husband Tab, and Yvonne Tisdale and husband Frank all of Jacksboro, Texas; and Gina Martin of Duncan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mary Ann McGee Walker and Aulton Briggs, his paternal grandparents, Chester and Doris Anderson and his stepfather, David Martin.

Memorials may be made to the Texas Game Warden Association, 4367 FM 1047, Hamilton, Texas, 76351 or the North Texas Field and Stream, 2005 Southwest Parkway, Wichita Falls, Texas, 76302.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
